I started in the big-project business as a specialist in pile-driving projects for large marine construction work. From there, I got involved in managing large, demanding infrastructure and defense projects, many requiring adventurous and highly technical coordination of skilled work: big budgets, tight schedules, innovative engineering for automated processes and smart process control, and critical outcomes. The Bay Bridge photo shows me as a foreman on the New Bay Bridge Project between Oakland and San Francisco in 2003. The Golden Spike photo shows a crew and me on a structure repair and replacement project at the Tesoro refinery in Martinez, California. The submarine project was a big Magnetic Silencing Facility for nuclear subs -- big amperage in that one! And the wetlands remediation project was a huge one; we used countless pieces of equipment and two Huey helicopters to move supplies and people over vast distances. The objective was to convert one Cargill salt ponds into wetlands habitat.
